Frequently asked questions about Flow Screeding. If your question isnt here then please get in touch and we will do our best to answer your questions.

How long does Flow Screed take to dry?

It is recommended to wait for a period of 24-48 hours before walking over your newly screeded floor.

For any load-bearing installations, such as partition walls, kitchen units, and the like, it is essential to allow a minimum of 5 days before fitting them in place. This waiting period ensures the proper curing and strength development of the screed, ensuring long-lasting and durable results.

How do I avoid the screed cracking?

It is important to keep the windows and door glass covered during the drying process. Direct sunlight passing through the glass can lead to solar heat gain, which may result in rapid drying of the floor. This rapid drying can potentially cause cracks and affect the final appearance of the floor.

After a minimum of 4 days, dehumidifiers can be utilized to expedite the drying process, but it is crucial not to use them before this time frame. Proper timing and precautionary measures will help ensure a satisfactory and flawless finish for your floor.

When can I lay flooring or a new kitchen or furniture

It is crucial to ensure that the screed is completely dry before covering it with any floor materials. We strongly recommend conducting moisture tests on the floor before proceeding with the installation of any floor covering, even when adhering to the recommended waiting period.

It is imperative to wait for a minimum of 5 days before installing any load-bearing elements such as partition walls or kitchen units onto the screeded floor. GoFlow will not be held responsible for flooring failures resulting from moisture-related issues.

When can I start using the underfloor heating?

To ensure the optimal outcome of the flow screed preparation process, it is essential to follow these guidelines when utilizing the underfloor heating for the first time or using it to aid in drying times:

  1. Allow a minimum of 7 days for the screed to fully set before using the underfloor heating.

  2. Set your boiler output temperature to 30 degrees initially. This precaution prevents thermal shock to the screed. You can then adjust the demand through your underfloor heating system accordingly.

  3. After 4 days, you may increase the boiler temperature by 1 degree each day gradually.

  4. When the screed is dry, avoid abruptly turning off the underfloor heating. Instead, gradually decrease the boiler temperature output over a span of several days.

By adhering to these instructions, you enhance the effectiveness of the flow screed preparation process, ensuring optimal results for your project.
